Some stories are so unique that even the sands of time cannot erase, such is the the incredible story of Yasuke 弥助 the only known samurai of African origin.
Yasuke's original name was Yusufe and was probably a member of the macua tribe, a population settled in what is now Mozambique. Legends say Yasuke arrived in Japan around 1579 as a aid of an Italian Jesuit priest, but quickly earned the interest and the respect of the top Japanese feudal lords of the era.
Oda Nobunaga, who at the time dominated much of the civil war-ravaged Japan, was fascinated by Yasuke, at a time when the average Japanese men height was about 1.50 meters ( 5 feet ), Yasuke was a dominating giant towering everybody at an outstanding 1.90 meters (6'2"). Nobunaga, positively impressed by Yasuke's qualities as a warrior, raised him to the rank of samurai with the right to wear the daishō, giving him a katana, a house and making him one of his bodyguards; Yasuke became the first foreigner to become a samurai, preceding the Europeans William Adams and Eugène Collache.
On June 21, 1582 Yasuke was with lord Oda Nobunaga when he was betrayed by his generals and involved in what is known as the Honnō-ji incident, forcing what was then the most powerful man in Japan to suicide. Yasuke managed to escape with his lord's son, Oda Nobutada, but they were later captured by Mitsuhide's troops.
Nobutada was forced to seppuku while Yasuke not being Japanese was taken to a Christian church in Kyoto. Although there is no further written information about him after this, oral history says that Yasuke became a ronin, a masterless samurai traveling the eastern lands teaching martial arts and helping other budding warriors sharpen their will along with their katanas.

A: Our staff will process your order within 24 business hrs and hand it over to the most reliable shipping provider for the selected destination ( UPS or USPS )
Q:"How long will it take for my order to be delivered?"
A: All US domestic orders are generally delivered within 3 to 5 business days. Please note that both carriers will not deliver on Saturday and Sunday.
International orders, due to distance and custom/import delays generally are in transit for 10 to 15 days from the date of shipping.
CUSTOMS & DUTY For International Buyers - Please understand that delays due to foreign custom clearance etc. are a possibility, and the buyer is ultimately responsible for all duty and custom charges when applicable. We have noticed at times that the USPS/UPS tracking number does not update once the package is in a foreign country. Customers in the past were able to retrieve their packages from their local post office using the tracking number provided, although the mail service online site had no additional information
IMPORTANT: For both national and international shipments, the buyer is ultimately responsible with providing a "safe" delivery address. We will not be responsible for items marked as delivered by USPS or UPS, but claimed by the customer to never have been received or stolen by neighbors, dogs or aliens. It is your responsibility as a buyer to track the package and make sure someone is there to receive it, or provide a safe environment where the postman can drop it off.
